Some people dont have time or opportunity to go to the University to get an education. What to do in this case? Lets look closer on the alternative variant of getting knowledge: Distance learning.

Requirements for Distance learning.

To get an on-line education you should have some basic skills in such fields like an ability to study alone, average computer skills, preferences for self-paced learning and a good self-organization. But what are the other main things to know about distance education?

Lets start from the systems Pros!

Here are the tips which go for the distance education:

1.You can plan your study schedule by yourself and you will never miss your classes.

2.This education suits people, who are on a first-name basis with their computers.

3.There are no splits with your classmates.

4.You are responsible for your homework, as you meet the course requirements.

5.Graduation from on-line education of some of the elite institutions counts the same as to graduate this University after attending classes.

6.You can attend classes wearing pajamas.

And now lets look through Cons of On-line learning:

1.On-line education cost more than an ordinary class attendance because of the additional support from University.

2.Some of the subjects are not suitable for distance learning, like mathematics or science subjects.

3.Its hard to make mutual projects because of the distance with your classmates.

4.There is no one to ask when youre studying alone. E-mailing someone you should wait for the answer.

5.Without proper computer skills you wont have an opportunity to study, searching information on the internet, sending your homework to the tutor.

Considering all this you should decide by yourself To be or not to be

Students Unions at the Universities. What For They are Created?

By Michael Cockson

In mostly every University there are several students unions. They are created for different purposes, but mostly to protect students rights and duties. But does this protection always good for students? Does it help or spoil students?

Unions Pros.

On the one hand it is good and useful because it unites students from different countries and/or from different nationalities. Young people learn how to be loyal to ach other, how to defend their rights. Thanks to these unions people with common interest gather together.

Why is it important to have a Union at the University?

The importance of making students unions consists in showing the problems, existing at the University and solving them in time. These unions show if there are any imperfections in the educational system of the educational institution. This youth organizations help to improve the educational system and to deviate from the conservative rules of teaching.

But on the other hand these unions cause different problems.

Unions Cons.

For example if there is an entrance exam to the University and there are people of different nationalities, like Muslims, Asian or Afro-Americans, then in case not to abuse them, University unions insist on taking these students with less requirements than native representatives of the country. And it goes that foreign students are accepted without any competition. And with a closer look we can see that these students are under the wing of the union which helps them to pass exams. If union wont help them every time, foreign students could learn the material more properly and pass it by themselves.

But still Students unions should have their place for living, because it is the only source for students to express their thoughts and opinions at their University and to get the answer from University authorities. And that is good that students has a willing to speak because old experience is good but new ideas are better.

You have to constantly develop your skills and knowledge. But you can notice that your colleagues, universities graduates get higher wages and get promotion sooner. What to do? Why do you need university education?

Well, the answer is simple. If you want to be successful, never stop to move on. Doctoral degree will make you more valuable for the company you work for, and for other potential employers. Besides, knowledge gained in a university will help you to do your job in the best possible way since theory can never be enough. How can you study in a university?

You may argue that you work and have no time and money for study. You must understand that this kind of higher education is a great investment into your own future. You have two variants.

Variant 1. You take a break and quit your job. This variant is quite radical and can be used in case you have financial possibility. You may also come to agreement with your boss, and convince him/her that you will become a skilled professional who can bring more profits to the company, and, of course, promise you are going to stay in that company.

Variant 2. You may start distance learning. Many universities (quite few, but their number increases) offer such kind of service; some of them even offer to obtain a degree which is equal to degrees gained by full-time students. You may take some distance courses which can be helpful in your work. Thus, you will be able to work and study.
